Whistler is made at the family-run Boann Distillery in Meath, but this is their first blended malt – meaning that whiskey has been sources from all over Ireland. It’s a blend of smoky cask influence and smooth blended single malts, and the smoky character of this blended malt pays homage to the spaghetti westerns of days gone by, with whiskey drawn from 3 corners of the Irish plains. Having spent the first part of its life in ex-bourbon barrels, it was then married and finished in peated quarter casks for a minimum of 10 months, giving this whiskey a campfire peated finish. The palate offers a playful interlude between campfire smoke, bourbon sweetness and a slight salinity, followed by campfire embers, herbal spices, and cereal sweetness on the palate.
